Founder's Note

Workup started with a simple experience that far too many of us have had—an unexpected medical bill.

It wasn't for anything major—just a basic test I thought insurance would cover. But when the bill showed up, the number was way higher than I ever expected. It caught me off guard. So I did what I usually do when something doesn't make sense—I started asking questions.

That's when I found out if I had skipped the traditional system and gone directly to the lab, I could have paid a fraction of the price. No middlemen. No surprises. Just a straightforward cost for something I thought was supposed to be simple in the first place.

I couldn't stop thinking about how backwards it all was. Why was it so hard to get clear answers? Why wasn't it easier to find out what something costs—or better yet, whether it was even worth doing in the first place? And if it was this complicated for me, someone who's pretty proactive about health and wellness, I knew it had to be even harder for most people.

At the same time, something bigger is happening—and it's only accelerating. People are taking charge of their health in ways we've never seen before. They're ordering at-home tests, tracking everything with wearables, personalizing their nutrition, and thinking seriously about longevity—not just as a medical concern, but as a lifestyle. Preventative care and optimization are becoming everyday priorities, not something reserved for a select few.

But with all of these new solutions flooding the market, it's getting harder—not easier—to know where to start, who to trust, and how to avoid the confusing costs and surprises that have frustrated people for so long. We believe there's a better way. By helping people connect directly with brands that offer clear pricing, straightforward experiences, and services that align with their health goals, we're cutting out the confusion and putting control back where it belongs—with the individual.

That's why we are building Workup. We want to create a platform that makes things simpler. Somewhere people could come to get a clearer picture of their health, explore solutions that fit their lives, and make informed choices without feeling overwhelmed. And for the brands out there building great things, we want to offer a space where they can connect with the people looking for what they offer—without having to outspend everyone else just to be seen.

For me, this mission has always been personal. I was the kid who dreamed about playing professional baseball, right up until I realized that 5'10" and 150 pounds didn't exactly have scouts lining up at my door. Later on, after too much time sitting behind a desk in New York, I set a new goal: finish an Ironman. I spent months waking up before dawn, learning how to swim from scratch, biking for hours, and running distances that felt impossible at first. But I crossed the finish line. And somewhere along the way, health and wellness stopped being a chore and became something I really loved.

These days, when I'm not working on Workup, you'll find me doing the things I love most—swimming (or trying to), biking, running, and baking chocolate chip cookies with my kids. I'm a husband, a dad, and someone who really believes that when it comes to our health, we all deserve better answers.

With Workup, that's what we're here to offer. A simpler way to take control of your health, cut through the noise, and discover solutions that work for you.

Thanks for being here. We're glad you found us.
